Teaching Encouraging Assisting Motivating
You will not be in foster care forever. You need to decide if you want to "age out" or "transition out" of foster care. There is a difference!
You have a voice - Use It!
Youth need to be able to express themselves and advocate for themselves, YTIA conducts workshops that allow youths to gain the skills they need to speak up for themselves.
PRACTICAL LIFE SKILLS TRAINING IN LIGHT OF COVID-19
COVID-19 is REAL and we need to learn to adapt to the new "normal." Things have changed but you still need to be prepared to enter into the REAL world. Therefore YTIA offers all of it's workshops virtually - either by Zoom or FaceTime.
YTIA workshops cater to the particular need of the youth. If you would like to increase your skills in a particular area, contact us and we can create a workshop just for you.
In 2020 YTIA is planning Zoom Practical Life Skills Training workshops. We are planning classes on cooking, cleaning, health and safety, and etiquette.
Need help but don't know where to go? Check out the RESOURCE LIST.
SAT and ACT Testing Dates have changed due the COVID -19 Epidemic. Check with the college/university to find out if they are waiving the tests.
College Prep/ Job Readiness workshops are still ongoing. YTIA is changing some of its format to ensure your safety during this time of social distancing. We will be hosting workshops for the remainder of the year via Zoom video conferencing. Please watch this space and/or our Facebook page (Youth Transitioning Into Adulthood) for the date/time of upcoming workshops. All High School students in care are invited to attend. To Register for a workshop please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org with your email address so that we can send you the link. These workshops will help ensure that you are prepared for the next phase of your life and will help you develop an educational transition plan to navigate the road to graduation and to locking in your educational benefits.
YTIA sends out the information provided by the SAC Empowerment Office. This information is available in the "Bridge Builders Newsletter." Read the latest BRIDGE BUILDERS NEWSLETTER.
