Youth Services
MORAL SUPPORT. Ever just feel like you need someone to talk to? Or, have an issue or concern that you need to talk through? YTIA is here. Just give us a call at (210) 256-1888 and we will be happy to talk to you or pray with you. Very soon we will be collaborating with the Foster Youth Alumni Support Group to give you a place where you can meet with other youths who have gone through just what you are going through, or have gone through, so that you can share feelings, issues, concerns, or just make new friends who can help support you through the next phase of your life.
SPIRITUAL COUNSELING. We believe in the power of prayer and if you ever need someone to just join with you in your prayer, all you have to do is call 210-256-1888 and we will pray with you. In addition, if you need someone to talk to about Spiritual issues, we are here but can also refer you to clergy.
LEGAL COUNSELING. Yes, the founders of YTIA are lawyers and to the best of our ability we will counsel you on legal issues, civil and criminal, since we cannot represent you in legal matters, we CANNOT give you legal advice. We can offer counseling about the consequences of your behavior and/or decisions you might make. Sometimes all it takes, though, is just a practical solution for a seemingly difficult situation. You may also want to check out our publication "Crime & Consequences" (see "G.A.P. Publications" below). Call and we will try to guide you through your legal issue or direct you to someone who can help.
G.A.P. TOOL KIT. What started out as the "G.A.P. Packet" is now the "G.A.P. Tool Kit." [G.A.P. = Growing and Preparing] We'd like for you to have one. The G.A.P. Tool Kit is filled with information that you will need once you leave foster care, things that will help you become a more responsible adult in many ways. We try to give these out at Circles of Support or at other activities, but if you don't have one and want one, all you have to do is call or send us a "Contact" and we will be happy to send one to you.
G.A.P. PUBLICATIONS. Many of you already have one of our first three publications: "Dollar$ & Sense", "Crime & Consequences" or "Life After Foster Care 1.0" but if you have not gotten one, please ask. "Dollar$ and Sense" was written to give you an idea of what things cost once you are out on your own. As a youth in care, you can get a head start by saving and getting yourself ready for leaving foster care. And, then occasionally, we all may make poor choices. "Crime and Consequences" shows you the consequences of making a very poor decision and ending up with a criminal case, something you want to avoid. "Life After Foster Care 1.0" is a way of reminding yourself about benefits for which you may be eligible once you leave foster care. Getting any of these publications is easy. Call us at 210-256-1888 or send us a "Contact" through this website. And, be on the lookout for future publications; we've got more in the works!
